MPX connector standard

After destroing (too many) components by exchanging wires in the field, I and friend of mine came up with the idea to define a standard for connecting UART- and audio/video-devices.

The male MPX-connector should be used for devices that draw current, and the female connector should be used for devices that supply current. Wire color is not really part of the specification, but here is what I use:
  • GND: Blue/black
  • 3.3V: Green
  • 5V: Red
  • 12V: Yellow
  • TX and video: Yellow
  • RX and audio: Green
